Youth & Family Navigator Program | Waterloo

The Youth Navigator Program is a peer to peer social learning model with a focus on leadership, academic and workforce readiness through trainings and service projects. Youth Navigators are 16-24 year olds from the refugee community who are passionate about community service, academic achievement, and professional development.

The Refugee Youth Navigator Program Activities include:

  • 1:1 mentorship
  • Literacy coaches
  • Service learning
  • Summer reading camp
  • Parent education and engagement

Select Youth Navigators also undergo training as literacy coaches and support learning activities for elementary students once a week at Irving Elementary School, and during a 6-week summer camp. The program takes place at West High School during the school year.
