Sound Bath Yoga Introduced as a New Way to Relax and Recharge at EMBARC

EMBARC’s Crisis and Advocacy team tried something new: a Sound Bath Yoga Class. Unlike our regular trauma-informed yoga, this one focused on sound and vibration, using instruments to create an atmosphere that helped participants relax and release stress. For many, it was their first time experiencing anything like it.

EMBARC staff and eight community members attended the session. For an hour, they practiced gentle movement while listening to calming sounds that helped them release stress and feel more at ease.

Participants shared how surprising the experience was. One said “I thought I wouldn't be able to fall asleep but I did.” Another added “ I can’t believe I fell asleep.” Many also noticed they slept better at night, showing how much the class helped them release stress.

This wasn’t just another class- it gave people a chance to rest, recharge and try something completely new. Even though it was just one extra session, the impact showed how important it is to give survivors different ways to care for their mental health. Healing doesn't look the same for everyone. For some, it comes from movement and for others, through music/sound. By offering unique opportunities like this, it helps survivors explore new paths to recovery, giving them tools they can carry into their everyday lives.

At EMBARC, we remain committed to offering experiences like this that bring comfort, strength, and support to communities we serve.
